A CHARITY that helps to save lives is thousands of pounds better off thanks to employees at a builders’ merchants.

Dozens of staff at branches of Jackson Building Centres all over the region pounded the streets of Lincoln in the annual 10k Run to raise money for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Jackson’s was also a major sponsor of the race for which the air ambulance was the designated charity. About 40 employees donned their running shoes and raised more than £2,300 for the organisation.

Jackson’s joint managing director Sue Knight and marketing manager Colin Bartleet, who both took part in the race, visited the air ambulance base at RAF Waddington to present the money.

Colin said: “The air ambulance does a fantastic job and Jackson’s was happy to make a contribution to support such a vital service.”

And the charity was equally pleased to receive the donation. Vivienne Chambers, fundraiser for Lincolnshire, said: "We are delighted that Jackson’s have chosen to support us this year and they have made a really superb effort on our behalf.

“The charity depends on donations from people living and working in Lincolnshire, to cover our £1.3 million annual running costs. Because they are such a reputable company, their efforts will be noticed by a lot of people. This in turn, will hopefully prompt others to think of us.”

“It is ten years this month since we airlifted our first patient and since then we have flown nearly 6,000 missions. With continued support we will be helping many more people in the future.

“From all of us to all of you - thank you Jackson’s."
