JACKSON BACKS HOSPITAL SCANNER APPEAL

18th July 2004

A LONG-established builders’ merchants is supporting an appeal to raise funds for vital medical equipment to benefit local people.

Jackson Building Centres, which recently opened a new branch in Louth, has donated £200 to the County Hospital Louth scanner appeal. Organisers hope to buy a CT scanner for a new diagnostic department which will also house X-ray and ultrasound equipment.

The sophisticated scanner produces a highly detailed X-ray image providing medical staff with more information on which to base a diagnosis of a variety of conditions.

Several fundraising events have been held to raise the £500,000 needed to buy the scanner and more are in the pipeline. Jackson’s contribution went towards sponsoring a bike ride from Lowestoft to the west coast of Ireland.

The builders’ merchants, whose new branch is on the Fairfield Industrial Estate, is keen to support the communities in which it trades.

Marketing manager Colin Bartleet said: ”The hospital scanner could make a real difference to hundreds of people in Louth and the surrounding area. We are delighted to be able to make a contribution to such a worthwhile cause."
