JACKSON STAFF WIN AWARDS

TWO Jackson’s employees have received prestigious awards in recognition of their hard work and commitment.
Each year the company presents awards in memory of two former Jackson’s employees who were killed in a car crash. Nick Grewcock was Lincoln branch manager and his colleague Patrick Gilboy worked as group kitchen designer.
Luis Oliveira, a mechanic in the tool hire department at the Nottingham store, has been named winner of the Patrick Gilboy New Employee of the Year Award.
Originally from Portugal and now living in Gedling, Luis joined the company 18 months ago just as the department manager was leaving. According to joint managing director Simon Jackson, he was instrumental in keeping the department running smoothly until a new manager took up the post. Luis also impressed the judges by developing a technical support package for power tool spares and totally reorganising the workshop. Mr Jackson, who awarded the accolades described Luis as a great asset to the branch.
Luis, 34, was nominated for the award by several department managers at his branch. “I didn’t know anything about it so it was an even bigger surprise,” he explained. “I’m enjoying my work and my life in Britain,” he added.
The Nick Grewcock Management Trainee of the Year Award went to Aiden Williams, 20, who initially joined the company about four years ago working in the Lincoln branch showroom on Saturdays. He was appointed as a management trainee after completing his A-levels and had a spell at the Sleaford branch before returning to Lincoln to work in the plumbing and heating department.
Aiden, who lives in Harmston, has already achieved good grades in several BMF commodity modules. He said he thoroughly enjoyed his job and was shocked but very pleased to win the award. Mr Jackson said Aiden displayed great potential for furthering his career within the business.
