CELEBRITY VISITOR AT JACKSON’S BRANCH

5th May 2005

STAFF at a builders’ merchant are used to the occasional well-known visitor popping in to pick up a few supplies but one of their most recent customers caused quite a stir – especially as he brought a television crew with him.

Former royal butler and reality TV star Paul Burrell dropped in to the Chesterfield branch of Jackson Building Centres to collect a bag of Bradstone aggregate – much to the surprise of staff!

The controversial figure is currently filming for television and paid a visit to the branch on Newbold Road as part of the project.

Assistant Chesterfield branch manager Richard Lee said the visit – on a busy Friday – had been a surprise until almost the last minute when a colleague received a call double-checking that the product was ready for collection.

“We really didn’t know anything about it at all but, sure enough, it was there,” explained Richard. “Paul Burrell arrived with a friend and the cameras filmed him putting the bag onto the truck,” he added. Mr Burrell then went to thank staff for their help before heading off with the television cameras in tow.

The distinguished visitor is one of a handful of famous names to visit the Chesterfield branch which can also count boxer Johnny Nelson and ex Leeds and Arsenal goalie John Lukic, among its customers.

“It was action stations after we got the call to say he was coming but we’re happy to have been of assistance and look forward to seeing the moment captured on TV,” added Richard.
