JACKSON SUPPORTS LOCAL CHARITY

2nd July 2007

Jackson Building Centres in Lincoln has lent its support to a local charity, which helps needy children and their families.

The HCPT –The Pilgrimage Trust takes disabled and disadvantaged children for respite care to Lourdes in the French Pyrenees each year.

Since the group was established in 2004, Jackson has made generous donations, which have gone towards sponsoring a child to go to Lourdes in Easter each year. Jackson’s donation is the sum needed to pay for a child’s flight, accommodation, basic kit and any activities during the holiday.

This year, the company’s donation was used to sponsor 14 year-old, Callum Stafford. Callum was recommended for the trip by his school – St Francis, as a child who was particularly deserving for this special holiday.

Linda Hawbrook, Deputy Leader – Lincoln 106 Group said: “Once again, I am delighted that Jackson has sponsored a child, fund-raising is always a difficult venture and we rely heavily on donations such as this and we are very grateful for their continued support.”

She added: “The trip was a great experience for Callum, who had an absolutely fantastic time with us and never stopped smiling. He constantly kept us entertained and spent his time organising the group helpers into a rota of whose turn it was to push him in his wheelchair !  He particularly enjoyed the trip to Gavarnie, where we had games on the meadow and a picnic.”

Jackson’s marketing manager, Colin Bartleet said: “Jackson is always keen to support worthwhile causes where possible, particularly at a local level. The group aims to give children and families in Lincolnshire the same opportunities as people in other parts of the UK and we are very pleased to contribute to its efforts.”

Jackson Building Centres now operates 24 branches throughout the East Midlands and Yorkshire, and is a regular supporter of local initiatives and organisations ranging from schools and sports teams to community events and hospital appeals.

HCPT is a national charity, which caters for youngsters with special needs between the ages of seven and 18. Volunteer medical staff and carers are on hand during the week-long trips and children can take part in a range of activities they may not otherwise have the chance to experience.
