JACKSON GETS SET FOR LINCOLN 10K ROAD RACE

10th March 2008

Jackson Building Centres has once again thrown its support behind the town’s 10K Road Race which takes place on Sunday 30th March.

This is the sixth year that the company will sponsor the popular road race, which will once again see runners, joggers and walkers competing for the winning title, for charity, or simply for fun.

The event, organised by the City of Lincoln Council Sport Development Team, is a very popular race for athletes of all abilities, attracting up to 6,000 competitors from the Lincoln region and nationally. The route takes in much of the historic part of Lincoln, including the Cathedral and incorporates the ‘Roman Prime Mile’ before the spectacular finish in the grounds of Lincoln Castle.

The designated charity to benefit from this year’s run is the British Heart Foundation, although participants can compete in support of other causes.

Jackson is the main sponsor for the third year running, and staff from the company’s 25 branches throughout the East Midlands and Yorkshire will be competing in the race, and once again, the company has generously paid their entry fee. The team have been holding twice-weekly training sessions and they are all hoping to improve on their individual finishing times.

Jackson’s Marketing Manager Colin Bartleet said: “Jackson is once again proud to sponsor this great event, which really seems to unite the whole community.

“Every year this event gets bigger and better and attracts more and more people, and we are hoping to raise a substantial amount for the British Heart Foundation.”

The main race gets underway at 11.00am and the wheelchair race starts five minutes earlier at 10.55am. All finishers will receive a commemorative t-shirt, whilst the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female winners will receive a trophy, medal and cash prize. Medals will also be awarded to the winners of each age category.
