DAREDEVILTRAINEE SKYDIVES FOR CHARITY
14th May 2008
A daredevil trainee manager at Jackson Building Centres proved that he had nerves of steel, when he took to the sky to raise money for charity.
Tom Hart, 19, from Barnack near Stamford, braved the elements and plummeted 15,000ft from a light aircraft at Sibson Airfield, Stibbington, near Peterborough, in order to raise money for cancer research.
Tom has worked at Jackson’s Stamford branch for the last seven months and is currently participating in company’s management trainee scheme. Despite his love of extreme sports, including skiing, surfing and snowboarding, Tom said that nothing could prepare him for his skydiving experience:
“Skydiving was a totally new experience for me, it was frightening but exciting at the same time. Going up in the plane took around 8 minutes and it seemed like a life time, then we jumped out of the plane and it was incredible, I actually felt like I was flying! We were particularly luckily on the day of our dive, as it was a really clear day and the view was amazing, we could see all the way to the coast!”
Asked whether he would do it again, Tom said: “It was such an amazing experience, I am already planning my next jump! I would recommend it to anyone. I would like to thank everyone who sponsored me, and hopefully the money raised, will go towards essential research that will help to save lives.”
Tom managed to raise around £200 for his designated charity Cancer Research, a charity that remains close to his heart.
